PARK NEWSPAPER:  Bob Pilzak will begin visiting advertisers after the beginning of the year for the 2010 park newspaper.

FRIEND’S NEWSLETTER:  The next Friend’s newletter is scheduled to be out around the middle of December.

LODGE LANDSCAPING: Nothing new to report.  Randy did inform the Board that he has had contact from a possible donor who may be willing to donate up to $2500 towards the project as a memorial.  With no landscaping plan seemingly in the works, the hiring a landscape person to create a suitable plan was suggested, and may be pursued at a future meeting.

HALLOWEEN RECAP:  Nannette Krause presented results from a survey sheet which was handed out at Halloween Weekend.  There was no distinction between those answering the survey who were campers, and those who were visitors, but the survey did answer some questions as to which activities were the most desired and which were not.

There was considerable discussion about the Friends tentative plans not to sponsor a Halloween Weekend in 2010.  The biggest problem still remains the lack of volunteers, and a lack of communication between the Friends Group and the park.  There also has been friction between some members of the Friends Group and an outside group which has also been holding events on the same weekend.  Most of the problems have been with the use of the lodge building over the weekend.

A motion was made and seconded, “That both the Friends Group and the Park each appoint a representative for the purpose of improving communication between the Friends Group and the Park in regards to the Halloween Weekend; and that all communicatons pertaining to the event be made through the two designated representatives only."  MOTION CARRIED

Barb Schweitzer volunteered to be the Friend’s Group representative.

CANDLELIGHT SKI/HIKE:  Date for the event is January 30, 2010.  An attempt will be made to set up two trails, one for skiers and one for hikers, but weather and snow conditions will determine what is possible.

There was some discussion about investigating a new means of lighting the trail for the event.  The change over to a different source of lighting however would probably have to take place over a number of years depending on the costs.

DATES FOR 2010: Candlelight Ski/Hike  January 30;  Spring Membership Meeting April 6;  Park Cleanup April 17 or April 24;  Sand Sculpture Contest August 14*;  Fall Membership Meeting October 5;  Halloween Weekend October 15-16
