TREASURER’S REPORT: (checking account balance stands at $2290.69, savings account balance is $9541.18. There are currently 53 membership units)

BENCH REPORT: (three orders for benches will be completed in the next few weeks)

WEBSITE: Angie Peltier has informed the Board that she is no longer interested in doing the website. Randy has already contacted Lakefield Telephone about a new password, and Terry Farr will also contact Lakefield to give them an email address so he will be able to take over the website. He also stated that he would like to place the ads of advertisers from the park newspaper on the website.

HALLOWEEN WEEKEND: Considerable discussion involving the Halloween Weekend took place.

Two buses will be used on Saturday night of the event at a cost of $90 each. Pickup will be at the front of Washington High School, with drop off point at the lodge. The circle at the lodge will be kept clear of cars to allow the buses to turn around. Cost for the bus will be $1 for a round trip. Buses will start running at approximately 4:30PM, with the last bus scheduled to leave the park at 7:30PM. There will be an unadvertised ‘last chance’ bus running after 7:30PM.

(Wayne Duprey reported that he is expecting some help for traffic control in the park that evening which will free up the rangers to do more law enforcement)

A flyer will be prepared with a schedule of events that are Being sponsored by the Friends Group. This will be separate from those events being planned by park personnel.

Food will be cutback somewhat this year. It will include some items during the Pumpkin Carving in the morning, and again in the evening during the live entertainment. Prizes for campsite decorating will be awarded to the first three places in both electrical and non-electrical categories.

Bob Pilzak passed around a flyer pertaining to the sky lantern demonstration on Friday evening. Sky lanterns will be available for purchase after the demonstration, and the following morning at the lodge for $7. Those purchasing the sky lanterns are requested to bring them to the beach area on Saturday evening for what is hoped will be a ‘mass launching’--weather permitting.

There was considerable more discussion about the Halloween Weekend including the amount of work that goes into it, the lack of volunteers, the cost to the Friends Group, and the lack of any real financial gain, either through donations or new memberships.

A motion was made and seconded, "That due to the lack of volunteer support, the Friends of Point Beach should tentatively cancel their sponsorship of any Halloween Weekend activities in 2010." MOTION CARRIED

To that end, any previously announced dates by the Friends of Point Beach for the 2010 Halloween Weekend are no longer valid.

Motion was made and seconded to adjourn. MOTION CARRIED Meeting adjourned at 9:04PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Kevin Duveneck

NOTE: Items in parenthesis were not specifically covered during the Board meeting, but were instead presented at the General Membership Meeting which proceeded the Board meeting. I have included those items in these minutes only for easier reference.
